Fishing Therapy - Good Mental Health

Fishing has always been known as a relaxing pastime, whether the participant has tried it previously or not. Its therapeutic and calming qualities are clear and a few hours spent fishing is a great stress reliever. Mental Health is a subject that is close to my heart and as a result I am proud to offer my services as an angling coach in short sessions which are aimed at promoting positive mental health. The sessions are all about relaxed fishing, less about techincal information and more about being outside, gaining confidence and having an enjoyable time on the bank. Each session is geared to the participant and their individual needs, fishing can become secondary to relaxing in the beautiful natural environment, just being near water helps lots of people to feel relaxed. I provide all of the equipment, bait and fishery tickets. Facilities are close at hand as are hot and cold snacks, I take it as my duty to look after the participant, if that means I go to fetch a brew and a bacon butty - it's no problem!

Sessions are held at Bradshaw Hall Fishery near Bolton. The fishery boasts a peaceful, secure and quite beautiful environment. My approach is relaxed, friendly and patient. Start and finish times and length of session are flexible to suit the individual's needs.

If you know someone who might benefit from a little fishing therapy please feel free to get in touch to discuss how I can help. Prices can be discussed and a discount offered on multiple sessions.

During the last 13 years I have worked successfully with the following groups. Each group had slightly different requirements but the collective idea was to assist the participants with attaining good mental health.

Forces CARP - assisting veterans with their recovery from long term physical and mental injuiries, through fishing

Bolton at Home - assisting one gentleman in his recovery from brain injury

The Salvation Army - helping a group to gain self confidence

Autistic Society of Greater Manchester - offering calming fishing sessions for a small group of autistic young people

I have also worked with countless private customers who wanted to gain self confidence, improve their mental health and find a way to relax. If this sounds like something you, or someone you know, would like to try please feel free to get in touch.
