Morning Andy, Just a quick line to thank you for the time an effort you spent with me. I definitely feel better equiped and more confident with the knowledge and skills you shared with me during our 48 hour tutorial. I would not hesitate in recommending you even to more experienced anglers than myself and I'm sure I'll be seeing you again in the not so distant future. All the best and keep up the good work you're doing.
Stewart Rayner - 48 hour Carp tutorial
Andy, had a great day and enjoyed it all. Couldn't fault any of today, granted we only had on bite but it gave me the opportunity to learn nonetheless. Your a great instructor, fountain of knowledge and all round great guy. Enjoyed being on the bank with you, had a laugh and enjoyed it. I would definitely reconmend you to anyone who is thinking of getting any tuition for any kind of fishing. Many thanks.
James Beech - Introduction to pike fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, I'm on the bank and just had a decent fish. I used a critically balanced bait on the rig we tied the other day and felt the lead down. I'm propper chuffed!
Josh Kirk - Introduction to carp fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, Here is a little message from us both which we both truly and genuinely mean. Our first experience of fishing was extremely great and my husband still cant stop talking about it. We were shown various skills and passed on valuable information about fishing. The session Andy put together for us fun, energetic and showed us various techniques. We learnt about the different species of fish and also different methods of casting. He then passed on more of his knowledge in order for us to take our learning further from the fantastic day we had. We are both sure to come back to Andy in the future for another great day of fishing with him. Once again a massive thank you to Andy for providing us with a unforgettable experience.
Saajidah and Siddik - Beginners coarse fishing day
Hi Andy, a big thank you for the coarse fishing tutorial yesterday it was much more than I expected and excellent value for money. I knew some of the basics but after fifteen years away from fishing I was really struggling on my own as so many things had changed. Your relaxed teaching methods and attention to detail made everything so easy and has really boosted my confidence, I can't wait to put everything learnt in to practice. I was trying to remember everything I caught but tell me if I missed any out. Roach, Ide, Tench, F1s, Common carp, mirror carp. Looking forward to a carp or catfish session in the near future.
Graham "Yorkshire Cobra" Taylor - Refresher coarse fishing day
Hi Andy, I just thought I would drop you a line to let you know how much I enjoyed the tuition on Sunday. I had a great time and I am really looking forward to having a go on my own in a couple of weeks.
Your knowledge is remarkable and you explained everything in such a way I cant fail to be on the right tracks the next time I go fishing. Once again many thanks.
Robert Barnes - Introduction to carp fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, Just like to say thank you for the excellent session you put together on Saturday 2nd May 2015. I have built up a basic knowledge of carp fishing but wanted to start using advanced rigs, tactics and watercraft with the aim of achieving higher catch results and to target bigger fish. Andy put together a great session at Bradshaw hall where I learnt casting techniques and how to feel the lead down properly, marker float & spodding as well. Then we moved onto rig tying where I learnt solid bag rig, combi rig, IQ D rig and the multi rig all taught very well. I also fired a lot of questions to Andy who answered them all passing on his knowledge to myself which was a great help. I now feel confident I can go out and put my new learnt skills to practice. Really excellent day, great bloke and will be back again in the future. Cheers Andy.
Ryan Postlethwaite - Intermediate carp fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, I just wanted to say a big thank you for my day tutorial on Friday 24th April 2015. My very basic knowledge of of coarse fishing is one of the reasons I sought out someone who could teach me good practice and methods. Can I say now how pleased I am that I found your details online! From my initial contact with you through to the day itself was nothing more than professional. (And set in a great location at Bradshaw Fisheries) I now know where I have been going wrong and the way you explained everything in a calm and easy going manner made the day.Plumbing the depth has been my downfall but that problem has now been put to bed and the explanation of the tackle used, the setting up of same, baits and its presentation through to the different species of fish (of which we caught plenty) and their handling was spot on. Waggler fishing was my main concern but I now have the method feeder and pellet waggler to add to my arsenal, with the day being broken up seamlessly covering these three areas. There is no doubt that the one to one experience has benefited me greatly and from now on, i'm going to be doing things right and making those 1% improvements in different areas add up to give me the edge over my mates. Either way I would encourage anyone who bothers to read testimonials to seriously consider booking a session with Andy if you wish to improve your fishing.
Gerry Lenihan - Coarse fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, just wanted to thank you for our dads and lads day on 10/4/15. Both me and Jack enjoyed it immensely, and felt like we learned a lot. We've now got the basic understanding and the confidence to go fishing anywhere, thanks to your patience and great skill in passing on your knowledge. The day was well worth every penny, but I feel the one percenters might prove to be priceless. Thanks very much.
Lee Sadler - Dad and lad coarse fishing day
Hi Andy, and a massive thanks from me and Danny, we had a great time, learned so much and catching the fish was a bonus; as you can imagine I have had my leg pulled over the final score ever since we left. Personally for me it was great spending some time with Danny and seeing the potential of a sport that we can enjoy together for years to come.
Mark and Danny Frankish - Dad and lad beginners coarse fishing session
Hi Andy.Thank you so much for yesterday's (07/03/15) dads and lads pike fishing lesson. It was both an enjoyable and informative day. With the three of us being novices when it comes to pike, we learnt so much in one day. From setting up the rods and rigs for float, ledgering, float ledgering and lure fishing through to making our own traces, you made it all very easy to follow. I was particularly impressed with your emphasis on fish welfare with the rigs. For Daniel the best part of the day was landing the 5lb pike and once on the bank, it gave us all the opportunity to see how to unhook and handle the pike correctly. This was the key moment of the day. Matthew was disappointed with the good fish which slipped the hook just short of the net! However, the whole experience has increased his confidence. Thanks again Andy for such a good day and I think we will be back in the autumn for a follow up pike session and the boys are keen for a carp lesson in the summer". I'll be in touch soon. Many thanks
Nick, Matthew and Daniel Boyce- Beginners introduction to Pike fishing
Andy.Thank you for the guided day you took me on 16/02/2015 the weather wasn’t great but your knowledge and will power to catch banked me a pike. My reason for the session was to learn new skills and to see if what I was doing was on the right lines, your day learnt me several new ideas and made it clear in my head what I was doing wrong in my own fishing and what to do to be more successful in the future. The time you spent explaining fish welfare I thought was brilliant and has given a lot confidence unhooking pike and also more importantly returning them safely to where they came from ! Once again thank you and will definitely be re booking.
Jon Oliver - Introduction to pike fishing
Andrew and Jack loved the 'Dad & Lad' fishing morning! We are in Cornwall at the moment and they have already found a couple of fisheries they are going to go and check out.Neither Andrew or Jack had ever been fishing before but with your help they now feel confident enough to give it a go themselves.Thank you for all your help and I'm sure we'll be in touch in the future when they want to improve :-)Thanks again,
Lorna Crystal- Dad and lad beginners coarse fishing day
I would like to thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable day at Bradshaw Hall Fishery. You covered every aspect of pellet waggler, method feeder and waggler fishing I wanted in such a friendly and knowledgable way that I felt completely at ease. The tips and guidance you gave I am sure will improve my overall catch rate and I cannot wait to get out and try them. This day was a present off my wife and I was not sure what the day would bring but your enthusiasm, kindness and patience was so much more than I expected. I have dropped a hint for pike tuition!!!! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a days tuition with you as you are a "top man" Thanks very much.
Bob Holmes - Intermediate coarse fishing tutorial
Hello Andy, I just wanted to say thank you so much for the tuition/advice you gave Bob yesterday. He said hehad an amazing day and what a “smashing guy” you were (his words!!). It was certainly a 60th birthday present that he will remember. He talked me through the whole day and fishing myself I could nearly understand everything he had learnt from you. There is so much that we can now put to good use such as not throwing 2 pints of maggots in the swim!!!! He is now talking about a pike lesson!!! Thank you so much again.
Barbara A Holmes - Coarse fishing
Thanks again for the lesson on Saturday. Have to say we both really enjoyed it. The session was better than expected. Great location that you had arranged for us and the pace of the lesson was just right. Learned more than I had imagined we would in a first lesson and would be keen to come back. As it was a dad and lad event we spent some quality time together and have some nice pictures to go with it. Would be happy to recommend it to anyone.
Mike Roby- Dad and lad coarse fishing day
Andy. Brilliant day today. You have a natural ability to teach and it made the session for me. Thanks for all the imparted info, it will certainly stand me in good stead the next time I am on the bank. I'll let you know how I get on. Anyway, back to making that Combi Rig! Cheers again.
Paul Pinchard- Intermediate carp fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, Thanks for a fantastic day at a wonderful fishery, Bradshaw Hall. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the day and learnt so much about four different methods of course fishing. We caught some great fish on every method and I just can't wait to put what I've learnt into practise at my local fisheries. I really appreciated your friendly, relaxed approach and your expert advice on many aspects of fishing, which has now given me the confidence & knowledge that I needed to improve my fishing and ultimately catch more fish!!. I would not hesitate to recommend you and without doubt I will be back for more! Thanks again Andy.
Craig Noel- Coarse fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, Just thought I would drop you a quick line regarding my Pike fishing lesson/Experience yesterday. First of all many thanks for a really enjoyable informative day, to catch two pike , nearly three ! was a fantastic experience and one for the memory banks ! I have wanted to catch a pike for years but was concerned about the safety aspects of unhooking and how to treat/ hold the fish out of water. I now feel quite confident in these aspects of Pike fishing. Learning how to set the rods and rigs up, for float fishing, ledgering and lures was really good, making my own trace up was a bonus. Those small percentages in tactics as you say are important and can really make the difference between a baron and successful days fishing. The adrenalin rush when bringing this Predator fish in is totally different to anything I have landed before, unbelievable ! All in all a great day out with an expert teacher and excellent value for money. I will be in touch about the Carp fishing lesson shortly . Many thanks & best regards
Paul Edge- Introductory pike fishing tutorial
"Hi Andy, hope you're well mate, just wanted to let you know I had my first ever Pike yesterday caught on a lure. Thanks to the session with you I was able to handle it confidently and put everything you taught us into practice. Without that knowledge I wouldn't have had a clue what to do! Thanks Chris."
Chris Goldstraw- Dad and lad pike fishing day
"Hi Andy, Would just like to say a big thank you for today, learnt a lot and got a great deal more out of the lesson I could of hoped for. Really chuffed about catching on all three methods and achieving a new PB. Come out of the lesson with a lot more confidence and can't wait to apply what I learnt on my next pike session. Many Thanks."
Phil Dempsey- Coarse fishing day
“Had a great Pike tutorial with Andy, his knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm for the sport shone through in abundance. I am a keen fly fisher but was eager to have a go at Pike fishing. This tutorial is essential for learning the technicalities and safety aspects of this sport. I am now fully equipped to get started and no doubt will use Andy again as I progress with the sport”
Ian Eddleston- Introductory pike fishing day
Andy. Great tuition today. I'm much more confident about handling big pike. Really enjoyed the day, it was great to put a few on the bank!! Plus the brews and the banter was fantastic. Many thanks!!
Yeh great day Andy cheers, Danny sumed it up well, great tips on both bait and tackle, looking forward to putting them into practice.
Danny Flint and Mike Tattum - Introductory pike fishing day
From the moment I spoke to Andy on the phone about his pike fishing tutorial, it was obvious he had an immense passion for the sport, and and immense passion for the welfare of the fish. This carried through into the excellent pike fishing day. Top tips, top company and top brews. Landing a pike bigger than my brother is always a winner, even though it's not a competition! Excellent tutorial ! Cheers Andy!
Neil Bolton - Introductory pike fishing day
I booked a Pike fishing tutorial for me and my Dad as a Christmas present for him, he had a great day and was chuffed to catch his first Pike of around 7lbs. The day ticked every box in terms of what we wanted with everything covered and Andy was excellent in how he explained and demonstrated all of the key learning points. We both now feel confident in going out and putting it all into practice and hopefully landing a few Pike through the winter, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Andy's services and I'm already thinking about a Carp tutorial next Spring.
Chris Goldstraw- Dad and lad pike fishing tutorial
Hi Andy, Just thought I would send you a quick email to say thank you for a fantastic Pike tutorial on the 26th of October. I learned so much in such a short space of time, and to have 2 Pike was a complete bonus, I would not hesitate to recommend you!! Looking forward to having another tutorial with you!!
Ian Brooke- Introductory pike fishing day
I recently attended a two day pike fishing course run by Andy. The two days involved the basic set up of the tackle, concepts of pike fishing and handling of the fish. I had never fishedfor piketo any great extent, but was left with enough knowledge to feel confident in going alone. I would definitely recommend more than one day, which helped cement ideas and give me confidence in applying the skills learnt. One day would be a bit of a whirlwind tour, and for absolute beginners not long enough, so book two. The amount of fish we caught each day ranged from five to one, so this would also reduce any disappointment! After all you don't want to walk away with a cheque book and pen! (Blankety blank). I was especially drawn to Andy's care of the fish, which was reflected in the tackle set up and the approach to after care, once caught. The two sessions were totally focused on leaving the fish as you found it, and not a footprint of discarded tackle and hooks for future anglers. I was also well stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits. Well worth the money and highly recommended. I will be going back!
Dan Rutland- Introductory pike fishing session.
A big thank you for the great few hours at Bradshaw Hall. I learned such a lot and it has given me the confidence go fishing on my own. If anyone is thinking of booking with Andy, don't hesitate - he is so knowledgeable and patient. You are guaranteed to have a great time and catch lots of fish.
Margaret Hughes- Introductory coarse fishing day
I thought you would like to know that Oscar said to me in the car on the way home that "Andy is an awesome teacher, he knows so muchand I learned more than I thought I would, thanks Dad it was a great Birthday present".
Martin and Oscar Willis - Dad and lad coarse fishing day
"Me and my Dad have fished with Andy for over 5 years now and thanks to his expert coaching we have caught well every time we've been, with carp to over 30lbs! Having developed such a level of confindence we decided to challenge ourselves.......Catfish were the order of the day and yet again Andy's tuition did not disappoint! We had a fantastic couple of days and I caught my first Catfish at 40lbs and I have already made plans to fish for 200lb monsters on the continent. All thanks to an excellent coach and all round top bloke!"
James Bannister- Catfish experience session
Hi Andy, It's Ruth from Spice Manchester. Hope things are well with you. I would like to say thanks very much for our fishing lesson on Sat 6 July. I had a really good time. Highly recommended. Your website is really good, great layout. Once again thanks for a really enjoyable day. Take care.

Iwould just like to say thank you for a great day carp fishing last Friday, the day itself was far better thananticipated and the subjects coveredthough the day from rigtying to water craft has given me the confidence to go out and catch. The ideas and tips you gave me will last a life time. My onlyregret is that I did not have the lesson years ago. Once againAndy, thanks very much.

Paul and Cade Preston- Dad and lad coarse fishing day
Andy, a huge thank you for another fantastic day. James came home full of stories about the number and kind of fish he had landed. He was so fired up he was talking about going out again next weekend with his dad! The pictures are great and I plan to get some of them printed off for him. I know that Steve was talking about the possibility of meeting up again so no doubt we will be in touch.
Jeannette Medati- Dad and lad coarse fishing introduction
"Just wanted to say thanks for a great days pike fishing, it's one thing to have expert knowledge but another skill to be able to pass this on with patience and clarity. To catch my first pike and then another over 10lb was a real bonus and definitely worth the two hour drive."
Graham Smith- Introduction to pike fishing
"Andy, thanks for a great two days pike fishing and excellent tuition.I know that I can now take away the skills taught to me and use them on my own waters. For me having tuition from an experienced angler is a fast track to success and beats spending months if not years struggling to learn the same thing by trial and error. In thelong run it is less frustrating knowing what you are trying to achive and the best methods to use to go about it and succeed. Ultimatly it increases the overall enjoyment of fishing and increases confidence providing a good firm basis and understanding from which to start. It could take a long time to acquire the same knowledge by other means. I hope to see you again in the future with regards to carp fishing.I have no doubt it will be just as interesting, enjoyable and informative.
Paul Robinson- Refresher pike fishing tutorial
"Many thanks for a great day yesterday - we both learnt a great deal and it fuelled our enthusiasm for more! Excellent value and would certainly recommend you to anyone wanting to start fishing".
William Ashworth- Dad and lad coarse fishing day
"I recently attended one of Andy's superb start fishing courses with my two young sons. Andy's sheer enthusiasm for the sport immediately caught the attention of my boys and they were well and truly hooked from the word go. After the initial set up, we were catching fish in minutes and with his years of experience and top tips, we were thoroughly enjoying the experience. Andy has a very calm disposition and has an excellent way with children, providing instructions in an easy to understand and effective way. I would recommend anyone wishing to take part in the sport to give Andy a call first and foremost for impartial and expert advice. My lads have talked about nothing else since and can't wait to get out fishing again".
Duncan Kyle- Dad and lads coarse fishing day
"Andy provided a fantastic introduction to fishing for all three of my kids. With patience and a great attitude towards the children he has given them a good foundation to expand their knowledge and enjoy the sport. He never tired of demonstrating things over and over again and answering all their questions - and mine! He enthused all of us with his love of fishing and we have gone on to spend many happy hours this summer trying out different fishing venues and building on the skills learned. The kids can't wait for the winter to be over to get back to 'bagging fish'. Thanks Andy."
The carp fishing lesson that Andy gave me was excellent! First he told me about being safe near the water and how to use hand wash at the end of your fishing trip for basic hygiene. He taught me a lot about carp in general, such as how they feed and move. He also taught me how to set up a good carp rig, how to tie a palomar knot and a good hair rig using a knotless knot. I learnt how to use PVA mesh and bags, how to present a bait and what bait to use for the time of year. During the session I caught one carp and also lost a really big one when the hook pulled! Overall Andy is a great fishing tutor and I enjoyed myself.

Andy has worked with us at Bolton School coaching our pupils with their angling skills. We like to offer a broad range of activities and a few hours at the waters edge gives our pupils an excellentunderstandingof a new hobby and the local environment. Andy's knowledge, experience and enthusiasm are a great help to us and the students are always eager to get back on the bank.
Paul Fernside Head of PE Bolton School - School group coarse fishing
After a few failed solo attempts at carp fishing, I thought I hadbetter get some help and I did so with Andy at Improve Your Fishing. Andy gave me a fantastic day long taster session which gave me a whole new outlookon how to fish and the ettiquette involved. After an introduction on how to set the equipment up on the bank, we began fishing, during the day Andy gave me a wide ranging education on basic rigs, fish safety and casting. Andy is easy to get along with and I listened to his theories on how fish feed and which baits to use with interest. Having never caught a big carp before I was delighted when, after a long fightI landed a 14lb mirror carp. Andy's a top bloke and I couldn't reconmend him more, I have already booked my next lesson.
Luke Butterworth- Introduction to carp fishing
I had been invited for a day out fishing with some mates and seeing as I'd not had much luck as a kid (catching about 12 fish in as many years)I thought "why not?" We set out to Bradshaw Hall Fisheriesat breakfast time and in45 minutes I was sat with a full set up and catching Rudd, Roach, Chub and Bream in no time. Then, with coaching from Andy,I managed to land "Jaws", a 12lb Mirror Carp, after 20 minutes of playing the monster. By far my biggest catch ever. It was a day I will not forget and I look forward to another chance to hook a "big un". Thanks to Andy for his fantastic coaching. I look forward to seeing him and "Jaws" again soon.
Andy Lee The Salvation Army - Group coarse fishing day
I booked to go with Andy for a days Carp tuition after seeing his website. Andy suggested going to Bradshaw Hall, lake 2. We started at 7am with a look at and description of tackle. We got the first rod out and Andy showed me how to tie a rig. He's a good teacher taking lots of time showing me and answering all my questions. We then put out the next rod with my rig on it. Not long after, bingo, the alarm ripped off and I was into my first fish of the day. Andy explained howto use the clutch to play the fish. We landed the fish of around 8lbs and Andy showed me how unhook, weigh and photo the fish safely. We went through alot more question and answers and quite a lot of coffee (very good host). We tied a couple more rigs before the alarm went off again, this time we had a Mirror Carp of around 10lbs which put up a really good fight. What was a long day went really fast, we tied lots of different rigs, caught another smaller Mirror Carp around 5lbs. Andy is a great teacher and he is good company and as I said the day was over too soon. I have come away with the confidence to tie my own rigs and set up the rods and alarms and lots more. I landed the biggest fish I have ever caught and I can't recommend Andy enough, a really good all round experience.
Chris Webb - Introduction to carp fishing
I would highly recommend Andy to anyone looking for an excellent fishing coach. My son and I had a great day! We learned several techniques from a patient and very knowledgable angler, which led us to catching loads of fish. Beginners luck,I think not, I'm sure he trains them to jump on your hook! We'll definately be back for more.
Glen and James - Dad and lad coarse fishing day
Thanks for a great day, I learnt new techniques and got many tips for the future as well as catching loads of fish, especially the three big carp. Time well spent!

On behalf of The Salvation Army, St Helens, I would like to offer you a sincere thank-you for the time and care you have put into creating an enjoyable day out for our clients (as well as staff) on three occasions over the summer. Your coaching has inspired several new amateur anglers amongst us. We have applied for rod licenses and permits for the local waters for our clients and some of them have bought their own tackle and spend much of their time on the canals.
All of us would like to express our gratitude, in particular Paul, Chris and Darren who didn't take off their medals all day, and wish you the best of luck. Hopefully, as the summer weather returns, we might be in contact again and have another great summer under your tuition.
Criss Fletcher The Salvation Army St. Helens Animateur - Group coarse fishing day
Thank you for a fantastic day. Your easy manner and enthusiasm hit the right spot with both me and Michael. You were able to explain to us both, the basic methods we needed to know and then showed that those methods work, with us both catching. More importantly you went the exra mile and stayed longer than you should, working hard to get Michael his first Carp. True to form you got him two Carp which really was the icing on the cake! Michael has not stopped talking about you and the day. We will now be practising the methods and I have no doubt that we will be having another lesson at some stage.
John Connor- Dad and lad coarse fishing tutorial
Thanks for yesterday we both really enjoyed it. Sam was buzzing last night, what a fantasatic day. We came expecting to learn the Pike fishing basics and left with Sam catching a monster. We'll see you again in the summer for those monster Carp.
David Longworth - Dad and lad introduction to pike fishing
It must be so satisfying to get youngsters into the sport. In my experience at least 70% stay with it for a good while, if not for ever. They are almost invariably good kids too. What they'd have been like without fishing is a matter for conjecture. Well done!
Keith Arthur, Sky Sports Tight Lines and Talk Sport's Fisherman's Blues presenter
Andy, I had a great day, I never imagined catching 70lb plus. I learnt a great deal in a short time, I know that it would take years to pick this up from books and videos and still not get the 'one percent tips' that make the difference. Fantastic tuition and good company, I'll check out my works diary and send through some dates for July. I'd like to do some float fishing maybe for crucian/tench type species.
Graham Smith- Intermediate coarse fishing day
Thanks for a fantastic days Pike fishing. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt an enormous amount.
Alexis Edwards - Mum and son introduction to pike fishing tutorial
Hi Andy my dad and i had a great day with you yesterday. We really learned a lot and both caught our biggest ever fish!! Picture looks great too.
Alex Matthews - Dad and lad introduction to carp fishing
A big thank you for yesterdays Pike fishing lesson. I was impressed with the experience, perseverence and the way you explained the tactics and tackle, also your hosting skills with the stove and kettle, and to top the day of we landed a fish, my first of many i hope. When i get another day sorted off work i will contact you and sort out another days Piking.
Paul Kaye - Introduction to pike fishing
Just a short note to thank you for making Joe's "refresher day" (3rd Oct) so enjoyable. He thoroughly enjoyed himself and has well and truly been bitten by the "bug" and I suspect he would like to make me a fishing widow! He particularly enjoyed the venue - areally well stocked pond, which led to him catching loads of fish- at least aht's what he told me!!
Annette Massey- Refresher coarse fishing day
Hi Andy, again another informative day which resulted in the fish Michael wished for! I must admit I was starting to think it was not going to be our day but I should have had more faith!! No complaints. We knew it was going to be a long day and that there was a liklihood it could be a slow one but you remained positive throughout and entertained us with your experiences and humour! Mike was impressed with the trace session and wants to make his own now. I certainly have a better understanding of what is required for pike fishing and the tactics we can employ. The hot drinks were a bonus and helped to keep me going. What comes through most with you, is the fact that you care about the experience we receive from your session, which is why we come back. So thanks again and hopefully see you soon. Thanks.
